Red Star

Once upon our own time,
There was a bright red star.
No one knew from what place,
Except it's from afar.

It seemed not to shine high,
It shone gloom, actually,
No one knew as to why,
What would cause it to be.

Could it lack the right skill?
Some stars shine expertise!
But this star had it still,
So it could shine with ease!

Could it be out of shame?
There'd be no reason why.
The red star was unique,
No excuse to be shy!

Could it feel out of place?
Ah, but all of them do,
So it sounds quite baroque
To consider that too.

Could this star feel alone?
Why would it feel that way?
Green, blue, white stars shine close,
With things friendly to say.

Could this star be too sad?
I just hope that it's not.
Red stars shine in a way
That the others cannot.

Motto against Drama

I turned to you with the frown most bleak.
Thoughts unspoken clutched my soul,
Swelled up, swallowed me whole.
As out of your bed I rolled
I opened my mouth to speak:

"There are things I never said,
Thoughts, ideas, memories,
Things I see that no one sees,
Things I can't show you, but please,
Bear them as they are played.

I can't speak them for they'd be lies,
Mortal wounds painted in gray.
In my head they seem OK,
But in made-up words I just can't say.
Thoughts are things I can't disguise.

Special soul which you may be,
Too much may be stored ahead,
We walked paths which no one led,
From no book this can be red,
I don't know if you can truly know me."

Snatching me as I got away,
You stood up in front of the window,
In a curtain background of bordeaux,
Smiled a smile that seemed to grow,
Mesmerized me just to say:

"Mortal wounds hurt more than lies.
Things unsaid are superficial,
Things forgotten artificial.
Things superfluous are never special
As long as they don't end up in goodbyes."

Fado em contra-luz

Se me pedires porventura,
Num momento de ternura
Um olhar de doçura,
eu dou.

Se quiseres um encosto
Por um infeliz desgosto,
Não abandono o posto,
Lá estou.

Se quiseres o infinito,
Seja verdade ou mito,
Se o encontrar não hesito,
Eu to oferto.

Se achares que estou distante,
Como a um cego amante
Pede e num breve instante,
Estou perto.

Mas...

Se mandar o coração,
Que me apertes a mão
Cedo à triste ilusão
Que seduz.

Ao fim do dia, em segredo,
Por saber que sofres medo,
Amo-te pelo avesso,
Em contra-luz.

The drunkard's lament

Bodies burst to thousand stars
Leaving deep and burning scars,
Silence, scents and sweet seduction
Instigate mental reduction.

Father Nix and Somnus witness
The embrace, pious caress,
Which enthralled me to those wishes
Through melodramatic kisses.

Fragile being, faint illusion,
Mathematical conclusion,
Remembrance of past grim fate,
Arriving a bit too late.

Soon it's gone and last unspoken,
Blissful dream until awoken,
Stars dance dead and soon they fade
To the love we never made.

Veluta

Violinos...

Soam-me a cordas
As pequenas parcelas estéticas
Que outrora foram uma flor.

Flautas...

Soam-me a sopros,

Colocado no momento único a si,

Numa calada lagoa gelada?

Cherry

Bite it, lick it,
Eat the cherry,
Do I love it?
Oh so very!
Can be visual
Or literary,
It's just so
Extraordinary!
It's not fake,
Imaginary,
It's so tasty
It's quite scary!
Does no harm,
Quite the contrary,
Polka-dotted,
Fun and merry,
Sings it loud
Like a canary!
Permanent,
Not temporary,
As obscene
As Virgin Mary!
Check it out,
Don't be a fairy,
Come on, now,
It's just a berry!

After all

After spitting on the hand that once helped you,
After destroying it all just 'cause you felt blue,
After raging for something you quite didn't know,
After making enemies of the rain and the snow,
After mocking the feeling they offered as loyal,
After forgetting respect and crowning yourself royal,
After installing around you the perfect monopoly,
After having it planted, you poisoned the tree,
After carving the idol you labeled him banished,
After raising the sword, saying it wasn't brandished,
After wooing with deciet the lamb and the herder,
After having it all you just had to go further.

After forgiveness without end,
There is now no more amend,
For you made that sharp nail bed
The moment you wished me dead.
